Best Clean Bronzer

Bronzer is everything in the winter time for me.  I love the warmth and sun-kissed look it adds to my skin, especially during these cold, dreary months–a great way to brighten up my look without going overboard on the make up!  I’ve worn bronzer for years, but recently have fallen in love with a truly clean bronzer!  This bronzer has become a regular part of my daily makeup routine! But first, let’s chat why you’d even want to use bronzer to add the natural sun-kissed glow to your face!

Often times, even with the best completion, our faces can look a bit washed out especially in the winter time when we are exposed to the sun less.  Whether you have warm undertones or cool ones, a bronzer can add warmth and dimension to your face, giving you a more alive look. I have been adding bronzer to my face on a regular bases, and have noticed such a difference even in pictures!

Bronzer is an extra makeup product that adds warmth to the skin. I don’t think it is necessarily needed, but I love to add it in my daily routine.  The best bronzers will create a bronzed effect, as if you’ve just returned from a beach vacation look–and who doesn’t want that?!  And, what I love even more is that you only need a small amount for that natural-looking bronze look!  Here are a few reasons people may choose to use bronzer sticks, liquid bronzer, cream bronzers, or powder bronzers–I personally still love the powders–talc free, of course!

  1. Add Warmth and Dimension: Bronzer helps add depth to the face, especially around areas where the sun would naturally hit, like the cheeks, forehead, and nose. It mimics the natural tan you’d get from sun exposure without the harmful effects of UV rays.
  2. Enhance Facial Structure: Bronzer can be used for light contouring. It accentuates the cheekbones, jawline, and forehead, creating the illusion of a more sculpted face. And, you don’t even have to be a makeup artist to use bronzer like this!
  3. Create a Healthy Glow: It imparts a radiant, healthy-looking glow to the skin. For those with fair or winter skin tones, bronzer adds life to the complexion, making it appear more vibrant.
  4. Set the Tone for Your Makeup Look: It can balance out your makeup look by warming up your foundation, especially if it’s too light or too cool in tone. A little bronzer can help bring everything together.
  5. Enhance Sun-Kissed Looks Year-Round: Even if you’re not out in the sun, bronzer allows you to achieve that healthy, sun-kissed glow. It’s a great option for people who want to avoid the risks of tanning.
  6. Versatility: Bronzer can be used in different ways—powder, cream, or liquid formulas all have different finishes and uses. You can even use bronzer as eyeshadow for a cohesive makeup look and a natural-looking glow.

Choosing a bronzer can be tricky, so you’ll want to pick a bronzer that complements your skin tone. A bronzer that’s too dark can look harsh, while one that’s too light might not show up well. A general rule is to pick a shade 1-2 shades darker than your natural skin tone.  Make sure you look at your skin color in the natural light to find the right shade for the best natural look. Here are a few tips I recommend when using a bronzer:

  • Use It in the Right Places: Apply bronzer to areas where the sun would naturally hit: your cheekbones, temples, forehead, and bridge of nose. For contouring, focus on the hollows of your cheeks, along the jawline, and on the sides of your nose.
  • Blend, Blend, Blend: Bronzer should never look streaky or muddy. Use a light hand and blend well for a seamless finish and smooth texture.  You can use a fluffy brush
  • Don’t Overdo It: Start with a light application, especially with more pigmented or matte bronzers. You can always build up the color, but it’s harder to take it away once it’s applied.

Ok, so I know you are wondering how do I choose a bronzer?!  There are all kinds of products out there—where do I even start?  First, take a deep breath.  There is no need to panic because there are so many good clean bronzers out there already–no need to worry!  As you know, I am always looking for truly clean makeup, and I am here to help you do the same.  Navigating these kinds of things can be difficult, even when skin care claims to be clean, you want to make sure you are still reading ingredients and doing your research in product testing and sourcing.  When looking for a clean bronzer or any other skin care or make up, you want products that are free from harmful chemicals like parabens, phthalates, sulfates, and synthetic fragrances. When you choose clean, you’re actually opting for healthier, skin-friendly ingredients, but all the while will still give you that beautiful, radiant glow, but without harmful chemicals.

I have used a handful of clean bronzers, but have just fallen in love with Crunchi’s new clean Solarise Bronzing Duo!  This bronzer is made with natural ingredients, is rigorously tested, made of skin-care ingredient products, and has proven to have a long-lasting wear.  I also love that it is EWG verified, talc-free, Leaping Bunny Certified, Non-GMO, and so much more.  This bronzer is a two toned bronzer that gives the right amount of color to anyone–a little bit goes a long way for that natural finish look. Here are a few things I love most about the Solarise Bronzing Duo!
